Dr. Ankita Rajeshirke is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences at MAEER's Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Thane. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Life Sciences from the University of Mumbai. She is a University of Mumbai Topper and Gold Medalist in M.Sc. (Life Sciences – Marine Biotechnology), reflecting her strong academic excellence.
With a passion for teaching, research, and environmental sustainability, Dr. Rajeshirke has experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and is dedicated to fostering scientific thinking through innovative and interdisciplinary learning.
Her doctoral research focused on aquaculture genetics, fish pigmentation, nutrigenomics, and sustainable biotechnology, integrating molecular biology with environmental conservation. She has published four research papers in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals and has contributed gene sequence submissions to NCBI genetic databases, demonstrating her commitment to scientific research and innovation.
Her areas of expertise include Environmental Science, Life Sciences, Marine Biotechnology, Aquaculture, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biodiversity Conservation, Sustainable Development, and Research Methodology.
At MIT Thane, Dr. Rajeshirke serves as the Faculty Coordinator of the Eco Club, leading initiatives aligned with Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment). She actively promotes environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, waste management, and green campus practices through student-led activities and community engagement.
She is also serving as the NSS Programme Officer at MAEER's Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Thane, contributing towards student development through community outreach and social responsibility initiatives.
