Dr. Debabrata Nandi

Assistant Professor (Chemistry)

Dr. Nandi received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Calcutta University in 2014. In 2015, he was awarded the prestigious Leibniz-DAAD Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research, Dresden, Germany, where he conducted research for one year. Following this, he returned to India and joined the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur as a National Postdoctoral Fellow (NPDF) under the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), New Delhi, for two years. In addition to his research, Dr. Nandi has gained valuable international experience in research and project management in the field of Materials Science and Engineering, through his work at the University of South Africa, King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok, and the Sirindhorn International Thai-German Graduate School of Engineering (TGGS). He also holds teaching experience in Chemistry at Sabang Sajanikanta Mahavidyalaya (affiliated with Vidyasagar University) and at the Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management (affiliated with West Bengal University of Technology). In 2022, Dr. Nandi was awarded the highly prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellowship by the European Commission. Under this program, he served as an experienced researcher at RCPTM-CATRIN, Palacký University Olomouc (Czechia) and the University of Groningen (Netherlands) for two years. In August 2025, Dr. Nandi joined MIT Mumbai as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry.
